I’ll Be Seeing You by Rosie Archer ~ My Review of I’ll Be Seeing You

#IllBeSeeingYou #NetGalley @V1Seo

I initially requested I’ll Be Seeing You by Rosie Archer from NetGalley based on the description.

“A World War 2 saga to warm the heart. Three women become friends when working in their local picture house. When life is so tough for everyone, a trip to the pictures is the perfect way to escape, to dream of romance and hope for the good things peace will bring.”

It was the 1st book I received from NetGalley and the 1st book I had read from Rosie Archer

To be honest I had never heard of Rosie Archer before but have since found out she has written a dozen similar book in recent years usually described as wartime sagas, nostalgic, heart-warming, friendship, bluebird Girls, etc.

I received the book on Friday and had finished it by Sunday – Is that a good thing or a bad thing?

Rosie Archer – I’ll Be Seeing You: A wartime saga brimming with nostalgia to warm your heart

To be honest I’ll Be Seeing You was more Enid Blyton than Mary Wesley, not necessarily a bad thing as they are two of my favourite authors, unfortunately it was a little cheesy for me though, not much character development, not much of a story and all very predictable.

Again, not necessarily a bad thing, I expect it’s exactly what her readers want and like, but as a cynical 56 year old man who’s not the most romantic I don’t think I am really Rosie Archers target market.

Saying that, it was a pleasant enough read, it kept my attention, it gave you that heartwarming feeling and although there wasn’t that much character development the main characters were likeable enough to make you want to read more. Plus the fact I read it in less than 2 days has to be a good sign.
